When we were in Greece the most unfamiliar part was trying mightily to learn the Greek letters. Honestly when we are visiting a country that does not use our alphabet in their language, I go completely cross-eyed. Here is a street sign for instance, with both the Greek and the Roman translations: Kirk was persistent and by the end of our trip actually caught on to a bit of the translation. Of course exposure to fraternities and sororities helps with the sigma and the thetas. But I was pretty much completely useless and stuttering when it came to trying to identify streets and directions. It was all "Greek to me!"
