AWCB Halloween Party

The American Women's Club had its Halloween Party early this year. I guess Oct 31 is during the schools' Fall Break so wisely they knew many expats would be traveling. Thus we kicked off the candy and treats early! We asked Connor what she wanted to be this year. Again she wanted to be a ballerina. She made a mighty dandy ballerina in her pink poof! The funny thing is she was a ballerina last year. I wonder how many years we can stick with just the one costume? It is good to get our money's worth! My how times have changed in that year....in terms of Connor's growth, our life location and everything in between. Here is our photo from Halloween 2008:We got to the Club - it was Kirk's visit ever! - and as they were walking up the driveway this reminded me so much of a "Priceless" Mastercard commercial from a few years back. Remember it?
They did a great job setting a festive, spooky mood for us to enjoy.
And with candy corn we felt like it was Christmas. We have yet to find candy corn here, so it must have been stashed from someone's suitcase during a trip home! What a tricky TREAT!
Kelly leads the MOYC group (Mothers of Young Children) - she is on the left - and Danielle (on the right) came to Brussels from Davidson, NC. Small world, isn't it?
Jennifer is in charge of new members and her youngest son, Thomas the tiger, is one Connor's favorite friends in the creche (day care at the club).
The smaller children went first for the trick or treating around the club.
Connor's very first "Trick or Treat" --- although she really didn't understand that she was supposed to open with "Trick or Treat" - she only knew to say "Thank you and Merci" once the candy was in her bag.
Best of all, there was candy from America!!! Junior Mints and Hershey's. Great party.
My heart is a puddle with this photo of Connor on the steps with her trick or treat bag in hand and the sweet pink encircling her. And the look of "What's next?!?" beaming from her eyes.
There were crafts and games and everyone brought a dish to share. Our bellies ached after all the goodies. And Connor was for sure on a sugar high!
We caught up with Ali and Shannon and their new baby, Reagan. Shannon is an accountant for Deloitte.
I really can't even remember when Connor was this age! So sweet and stationary. Reagan made a precious pumpkin for her first Halloween.
I am so happy we bookmarked this event on our calendar and we were in town to partake in the festivities. Connor had an absolute ball. It was hands on and she got to dress up in her tutu and ballet slippers. I think she even acted the part as she seemed a little more poised and graceful than her usual rampage.

Cute Halloween Party blog...loved all the photos, you're so good at taking tons of unique shots. It was great seeing you there and Conor did seem quite poised...I suppose you could dress her up more often if you wanted her to act that way everyday! J/K she seems like a well-behaved girl from the times I've been around her.
